Vice President of Finance

Position Title:    Vice President of Finance                                     Status:   Exempt                                                                                                        
Reports To:   President/COO
 
Position Summary: 

Responsible for directing, coordinating, maintaining and controlling an accounting system that properly reflects the financial position of the company.  Monitors department policies and procedures and recommends improvements, consults with the Senior Management team. Participates in establishing and implementing major goals and objectives and serves as a resource in all aspects o accounting.  Ensures accurate internal and external recording and reporting of financial transactions.  Oversees budgeting, general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, fixed asset management, etc.  Ensures that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal, regulatory and company procedures.  Assigns, directs and appraises accounting staff.
 
 
Essential Functions:  

- Responsible for planning, development and implementation of accounting strategies, policies & procedures.

- Oversees the preparation of daily, monthly, annual and other periodic financial statements and reports.

- Coordinates and oversees tax reporting requirements, audits, and budgets and ensures the timely completion of such.

- Conducts cost analysis, ratio and trend analysis, and other comparative examinations, reports and various other duties as requested by Senior Management.

- Serves as a liaison between the company and external auditors and regulatory authorities.

- Coordinates accounting functions with other departments.

- Interfaces with the IT department in development and implementation of efficient systems consistent with new software applications and internal systems.

- Completes financial analysis of company cash flow, investment strategies, banking relationships, debt management, etc.   Develops and implements improvements as appropriate.

- And other various duties as suggested or requested by management.
 
Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in accounting, business, or a related field; CPA preferred.

- Thorough knowledge of financial and accounting practices and procedures. 

- Understanding of governmental regulations and reporting requirements. 

- Understanding of related auditing and IT functions.  Broad based knowledge of the entrepreneurial business environment.


- Five or more years of high level accounting experience.  Three or more years of supervisory experience.

- Able to organize, coordinate, and direct projects.  Strong oral and written communication abilities.  Solid analytical and technical skills.  Able to use all related hardware and software.

- Sedentary work. Ability to enforce rules, regulations, company policies and standard operating procedures.
 
- Sitting a majority of the time.
